We were delighted to welcome 24 athletes at our High Performance Karate Training Camp this week.
Over the course of two days, athletes delved into Kata & Kumite performance, complemented by a tailored mindset workshop aimed at optimising their performance on and off the mat.
Day 1 – Kata
The first day of camp was focused on Kata.
Athletes started the day with a presentation and workshop on mindset for high performance, delivered by Sensei Roy O’Kane, with a focus on goal setting, team dynamics, and cultivating a champion mindset.
Our coaching team guided athletes through physical & technical aspects and attributes essential for high level Kata performance. Tailored content ensured that athletes of all levels were equipped with the tools necessary to perform.
We further expanded on these physical and technical factors through video analysis sessions. This provides invaluable insights empowering athletes to refine their techniques and elevate their performance.
Day 2 – Kumite
On the second day of camp, athletes and coaches worked on and developed Kumite.
Kicking things off with a presentation & workshop on the fine margins with regards to high level performance. Defining them, why they matter and how athletes can leverage them to their own advantage.
Our coaching team started looking into the fundamental principles of Kumite, working on fundamentals.
Through a series of drills, partner work and controlled sparring, athletes were taught how to effectively manage distance within their matches.
Following visual inputs from video content from high level Kumite practitioners, athletes were guided through match dynamics and how to deploy strategy within their matches.
Our High Performance Karate Training Camp was more than just training. Emphasising a holistic approach, where physical & technical aspects were merged with mentality. Well done everyone.
